About School Of Thought

School Of Thought is an intensive 12-week training programme for those who want to flex their creative muscles by learning how to develop and pitch big ideas. It's not just a course... it's a competition. In the end, there will be one winner who will win a trip to Cannes Lions - a career changing trip worth thousands of pounds.

School Of Thought is industry run and supported, with sessions hosted by the hottest agencies in the North.

It’s open to absolutely anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes. Previous students range from hungry grads to creative pros and frustrated call centre operators.

How it works

School Of Thought is hosted by some of the best agencies around. Over the 12-weeks students are exposed to a range of specialisms, approaches and ways of thinking. Topics include TV, radio, digital, social, press, outdoor and more.


Every Monday students meet a different host agency via Zoom to hear a talk and leave with a brief. They return to the agency in-person on Thursday to pitch their response to the brief. 

School Of Thought is about ideas, ideas, ideas. Craft and execution count for nothing. Ideas can only be presented using a sharpie and a piece of paper. Computers, cameras and other craft tools are off-limits.

It's a pressure cooker of creativity. Students learn how to develop big ideas quickly and pitch them confidently.

At the end of the 12-weeks the person with the best ideas wins.
